Whether native to Maharashtra or some other Indian state, the best and fastest way to travel to Trimbakeshwar temple is from Nashik. In this blog post, I have provided all the details about the Nashik to Trimbakeshwar distance, mode of travel, and best timings of visit – all of which will help you plan your travel well so that you can focus on the spiritual instead of worrying about the nitty-gritty of travel.
The Trimbakeshwar temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located near Nashik in Maharashtra and is one of the 12 revered Jyotirlingas present in India. It is believed that the Shiva Jyotirlinga had self emerged from the Earth, also called “Swayambhu”, which makes it one of the most revered shrines for devotees.
Nashik To Trimbakeshwar Distance
Trimbakeshwar temple is situated at a distance of about 30 km from Nashik center. It is accessible by road only, and you can hire outstation cabs or travel in buses run by MSTRC and Nashik Corporation. The usual time taken to cover this distance is 45 mins to 1 hour, which can vary based on traffic.
There are 3 routes that can be used to cover the Nashik to Trimbakeshwar distance. Hence, the actual kilometers and time taken can vary slightly basis the route being chosen by you. The following are the details of the same
- Nashik to Trimbakeshwar via NH 848 – this is the shortest route with a distance of 30km. The route via the NH 848 is a good one making for a comfortable journey
- Via Nashik Freeway and NH 848, distance 37 km – This route includes a 6km travel on the Nashik Freeway before finally merging into the NH 848 at the Anjaneri Phata junction.
- Via Nashik Freeway, Prof Gorakhe Satpur Ambad link road, and NH 848, distance 35km – This route takes a diversion from Nashik Freeway to Prof Gorakhe Satpur Ambad link road before turning into NH 848.
Based on the distance and quality of the route, I would recommend taking the first option to travel to Trimbak temple from Nashik.
How to Reach Trimbakeshwar from Nashik?
You can travel by state-run buses or by renting a car/taxi. Traveling by MSRTC buses is a cheaper option since all cab rentals treat this as an outstation ride.
- Buses – There are buses that ply every 15 mins from 5.00 am to 8.00 pm, and every 30 mins from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm between Nashik CBS Bus stop and Trimbakeshwar bus stop. The distance from the Trimbakeshwar bus stop is walkable and takes barely 2 to 5 minutes. The Bus fare ranges from Rs. 25 to Rs.42 and there are 5 to 6 stops in between. You can check the timetables here.
- Cabs – You can hire local taxis or Ola/Uber rentals. Uber treats these as outstation rides and you are charged for round-trip. This can cost anything upwards of Rs. 700 for one way, the cost depending on whether you are traveling during festival times/ peak times when the cost can be significantly higher. In terms of ease of getting a car rental from Trimbakeshwar, my personal experience says it is difficult. So I would suggest you book hourly rentals or finalize the round trip with the local taxi that you are taking.
Best Time to Visit Trimbakeshwar
The best time to take the journey to cover the Nashik to Trimbakeshwar distance is from October to March. During these months, the weather is pleasant and there are no rains. Do keep in mind that the queues to darshan are excruciatingly long, so traveling during these times ensures you are comfortable as you wait your turn.
Also, I would suggest avoiding visiting on Mondays or during Festival times especially like Shivratri as during such times there is a huge influx of devotees to both Nashik and Trimbak area. So you will possibly struggle with everything from booking hotels to booking cars for travel or even parking your car near the temple.
