Pirwadi Beach in Uran, together with Mankeshwar Beach and Nagar Beach, form the triad of beaches located at a distance of 50km from Vashi, the only set of beaches in the Navi Mumbai region. This beach is an ideal spot for a day picnic – far enough for a long drive (takes about 1.5 hours to reach by car) and near enough for a day outing. This proximity to Navi Mumbai makes this beach a popular destination for city dwellers.
Pirwadi Beach is unlike any other beach you will find in Mumbai or Maharashtra for that matter. You do not have a typical sandy beach and crowds. The shoreline here is largely rocky, the sand is blackish and it is well-interspersed with rocks. And the view is just mesmerizing.
If visited during the day, you will find the place too sunny and there are very scarce options for resting in the shade. Hence, most beach enthusiasts visit during the winter season when the weather is pleasant. The beauty of this beach gets enhanced around dusk when the entire beachline glows against the setting sun.
How to Reach Pirwadi Beach
You can reach Uran and Pirwadi beach by car from Mumbai. You can either drive down or take a taxi. Buses are also available as run by NMMT up to Uran city, post which you can also take an auto to reach the beach. If you choose to drive down, there is a free parking area available right outside the beach. And the fewer crowds ensure you always get a spot.
You can also reach Uran by train, the Uran railway station is about 3 km from the beach.
Experience of Pirwadi Beach
One of the highlights of Pirwadi Beach is its relatively untouched beauty, with fewer crowds compared to some of the more popular beaches in the region. This makes it an ideal spot for those seeking peace and solitude by the sea. Additionally, the beach is known for its clear waters, making it suitable for swimming and other water activities.
If you wish to explore the area around, you can visit the Dronagiri Fort which is very close to the Pirwadi Beach.
You can also enjoy seafood at the various hotels and shacks around the place. You will not find many resorts or hotels to stay, but local food restaurants are plenty. You can experience fresh seafood like pomfret, Prawns, and kingfish prepared in local Konkani cuisine.
If you’re planning a visit to Pirwadi Beach, be sure to pack essentials like sunscreen, snacks, and plenty of water. And don’t forget your camera to capture the stunning views and memorable moments along the coastline!
5 Tips for a Perfect Day Trip
- While many families visit Pirwadi Beach & dusk on this beach is beautiful, but if you are traveling with women, it is better to return before sunset. This beach is less crowded and hence many groups come here solely with the purpose of drinking, and it can get unsafe post-sunset.
- Be sure to carry sunscreen and sunglasses. There is not much shade on the beach, the trees cover the roads and not the beach.
- During high tides, the beach is completely submerged and you will not get to experience the beach. So plan your travel to coincide with a low tide.
- The last leg of the route to Pirwadi Beach lies along the ONGC area. However, Google Maps can be confusing, you can take directions from the locals instead.
- Washroom facilities on the beach are shoddy and nonexistent. So the best option would be to use restrooms in the restaurants.
